Building a Sacred Community, One Life, One Soul at a Time

We are an Open and Affirming, progressive congregation located in Dallas, TX.

At Promise United Church of Christ, we know that inspiration opens hearts. An open heart is an open mind and an open mind is one that can practice tolerance, experience gratitude, and feel the glory of God. It is our belief that God is present in every human being.

We are dedicated to the service of God and all of God's people. Our goal is to provide a place of welcome, inspire an active spirit of mission, and create a safe space to wrestle with questions about our faith. We invite you to become a part of our growing congregation.

Meet Our Pastor

As a Womanist pastor, The Reverend Doctor Winner A. Laws (she/her) is committed to sharing narratives of Black women’s experiences to empower ALL people spiritually and to be a voice for those on the margins to find their place in the creation story, so that ALL will know that God loves them unconditionally. Rev. Dr. Laws enjoys playing cards with her family, regular golfing, and traveling. In addition to serving as Promise UCC's Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Laws is the Congregational Care and Spiritual Support Pastor for The Gathering: A Womanist Church in Dallas, TX. She also works full time as a Senior Project Manager at NTT Data in the GCA division, supporting Medicaid customers.

Pastor Winner was raised in Houston, TX and now resides in Plano, TX. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University, a Master of Theological Studies from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University, and a Doctoral degree from Memphis Theological Seminary.  She is a contributing author to two books: "Our Witness: The Unheard Stories of LGBT+ Christians" (2018)  and "The Gathering - A Womanist Church: Origins, Stories, Sermons, and Litanies."
